We have learned that the German Master Jacques Mieses is presently on tour in England, delighting audiences with his refined and witty disposition no less than with his sparkling style. The following game was one of four played simultaneously against teams of consulting players at the Hempstead Chess Club. In Mieses' favorite Vienna Game, the Black team of consultants plays in the style of the visiting Master himself, sacrificing pawns for the attack, only to be thwarted in the end by a counter-sacrifice. This game, our sources inform us, was the most interesting of the session.
