On the 9th inst., at Basel, in Switzerland, a match was contested on 24 boards between representatives of that city and a visiting team from Bern, the hosts prevailing by a score of 14 wins to 5, with 5 games drawn. On first board Dr. O. Naegeli of Bern registered a victory over Herr W. Henneberger, thus providing some small consolation for the visitors and repeating his result achieved in an earlier match between the two cities, likewise won by the Basel side.
