Two sparkling Alekhine victories

We present two sparkling games won in recent days in Paris by the brilliant Russian ace Alexander Alekhine. The young Master's aggressive style and fiery imagination often produce true gems of chessboard art, games in which the pieces seem imbued with uncommon strength and energy.  Such is the case in our first offering, where Alekhine in the short space of 15 moves sacrifices most of his army in order to deliver checkmate with the few forces that remain.

The unmistakable Alekhine style shines forth with equal brilliance in our second game, which sees the Master first sacrifice a Knight to weaken the defenses of the opposing King, and then, a few moves afterward, announce a forced mate in 10 inaugurated by the sacrifice of his Queen.
