Games from the City of London Chess Club Championship

We present, as promised, the remaining games received from London, taking this opportunity to express our thanks to our British sources for providing our readers with so many high-quality examples of first-class chess.

In the first game, Mr. Ward defeats Mr. Müller in a short, sharp struggle featuring attacks on opposite wings.  The position after 17...Kh8 merits close examination:

Next, the veteran Mr.Müller, whose final placement was perhaps rather lower than might have been anticipated, gives evidence of his former strength to claim one of only two draws conceded by Mr. Thomas, the tournament winner, who has kindly provided notes to the game.

Finally, Mr. Thomas, the City Champion, offers his Bishop not once, but twice en route to defeating Herr Lasker:  Notes by the latter.
